Movie News: New 'Red Sonja' on Its Way

Red Sonja: A new version of Red Sonja is on its way. Millennium Media intends to finance and produce the first installment in what it hopes will be a franchise, encouraged by the success of Wonder Woman. It’s based on a comic book character created in 1973; the series is now published by Dynamite Entertainment. The character is famed for her fighting skills as a fierce warrior and was first brought to the screen in 1985 (above), starring Brigitte Nielsen. [Deadline]


The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings: Talks are underway to bring J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings books to television. Reportedly, Warner Bros. Television and Tolkien’s estate are in an early stage of talks with Amazon Studios to develop a new series. Kicking off with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (above), the three big-screen adaptations eventually made more than $1 billion at the box office worldwide. [Variety]



Venom: Tom Hardy, last seen on the big screen in Dunkirk (above), is currently filming Venom. We don’t know much about the superhero movie, story-wise, but a new official image (below) shows Hardy looking quite pensive, some two weeks after production began.
